The name pretty much sums it up. The 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe is a fixed roof version of the standard roadster. So instead of the annoyingly complex soft top, you get a rigid, weatherproof lid that might actually save your neck in the event of a rollover.

2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. Pontiac was once revered for its iconic performance cars like the GTO but its recent offerings have been plagued with tacky body cladding and overblown “sporty” design details. Thankfully, General Motors’ Bob Lutz took a hatchet to the flawed designs and brought in Holden, an Australian division of GM, to help rebuild the style of these performance-driven cars. There is no better representative of Pontiac’s design revolution than the new G8 GXP. Gone are the side strakes and large spoilers of years past, leaving behind sleek bodylines and only subtle hints to the power that lies under the hood. A new front fascia, with large twin port grilles and air intakes, houses the same LS3 6.2-liter 402-horsepower V8 engine that propels the Chevy Corvette. Other new design elements include 19-inch high-polished aluminum wheels, chrome accents including quad exhaust tips and an understated rear spoiler. Click on the Video below to watch Pontiac’s Doug Houlihan show kbb.com’s Jack R. Nerad around the new Pontiac G8 GXP. The Chevrolet Traverse follows the Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave as the fourth model wrung from GM’s well-received new(ish) crossover platform. The forward-looking design promises to prove more polarizing than the others, but we wouldn’t argue with someone who called it the most attractive of the four. The seven- or eight-passenger Traverse will offer a full complement of modern conveniences, and with its 281-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6, a claimed cruising range of more than 500 miles. The Traverse arrives Fall 2008 at a price expected to start in the upper $20,000 range. For more new car reviews, interviews and automotive news visit kbb.com today.

2009 Chevrolet Traverse Full Test

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE CHEVY TRAVERSE:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=132113?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.*

If the large, traditional SUV you’re giving up represents trans fat, the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse you’re replacing it with is unsalted, organic butter churned from the milk of grass-fed cows.

This is not a low-fat crossover SUV. Along with its siblings built on GM’s Lambda platform architecture, the 2009 Chevy Traverse is the longest and tallest crossover on the market. Yes, it even beats the ungainly Mercedes-Benz R-Class. It’s also longer than a Honda Odyssey or Dodge Grand Caravan. If you wanted a bigger family vehicle, you’d have to go back to driving a Chevy Suburban or Ford Expedition EL.

And yet just like the sort of large, placid Holstein cow you see on family farms, our 2009 Chevrolet Traverse 2LT AWD is amazingly friendly for something with such a large footprint. It does everything to make sure it doesn’t step on you. You start to back up and a built-in camera display takes over the left side of the rearview mirror, while the sonar goes nuts if you get within 10 feet of anything shaped like a toddler. Then you glance to your right and realize you have the choice of looking in the regular side mirror or a built-in blind-spot viewer.

All the standard visibility aids on our Chevy Traverse 2LT tester can be overwhelming at first, but the car just wants to help you out. In doing so, though, it reminds you that you’re not really downsizing when you get into a seven-passenger crossover. Rather, you’re driving an SUV with the safety on.
